I have always steered well clear of highlighters and illuminating products in my make-up routine. With my skin being oily and more than capable of producing dazzling amounts of 'glow' by lunchtime the idea that I would deliberately put anything shine-inducing on my face seemed pointless if not slightly ludicrous if I'm honest!
It wasn't until I stumbled across the Manizer Sisters, Luminizing palette by the Balm while browsing online that I decided to put my reservations aside and give the idea a go.
Inside the palette I found three rather beautiful 'luminizing' powders with a soft super blendable texture and impressive colour pay off. The first shade is the famous Mary-Lou which is a gorgeous honey champagne colour (this is the one I have been using the most), next is Cindy-Lou which gives a subtle peachy pink glow and last but not least is Betty-Lou which provides a rich brown/gold sheen.
I love how finely milled the powders feel, the pretty design and the sturdy but compact packaging making it easy to pop into my makeup bag. I have been using the lightest powder on the tops of my cheekbones and on the inner corner of my eyes and the tiniest dusting of the peachy shade on the apples of my cheeks(swiping upwards). The darkest, more bronzing colour intimidated me at first but I have found it looks lovely blended onto my eyelids. I may even be brave when the warmer months finally come around and use a touch on the high points of my face. I definitely feel as though I have been converted by these little beauties and haven't felt like a shiny mess even once. The key here is that they provide luminocity rather than glitter and I for one am a fan!
