Hello everyone 👋.Negative reviews... I have been mulling over this subject quite a lot lately and thought I'd put my thoughts out there and invite some discussion here on the blog.
Generally I try to keep my content positive and upbeat. I often only feel the urge to write about something that I have taken the time to try out properly and like so much that I want to tell someone about it! The excitement of discovering something that I love fuels my creativity and encourages me to share my experience here. This is all very well but I do wonder if posting only glowing reviews makes for a slightly less authentic feel to the reader?
I buy and try more makeup and skincare than I care to admit and a lot of it is OK but for whatever reason doesn't work for me. This ranges from makeup that looks amazing on other people but doesn't suit me at all or skincare that disagrees with my oily t-zone but would be a great buy for someone with drier skin. They are essentially good products but just not great products for me if that makes sense?! I am less likely to try them more than once or twice so can't really give more than a 'first impressions' type review.
Now this is where the little debate in my head starts! I really enjoy reading and watching 'disappointing products' type posts and they have probably saved me a lot of money by exposing some of the beauty goodies that are much hyped but don't deliver great results. I just find it really hard to do these sort of posts myself, even though I totally understand the value of them!
Do any of you feel that the positive posts are a lot easier to create? Or are you just as comfortable sharing things you find haven't worked well for you?
Ok I've rambled on for long enough! I'd love your feedback 😀
